Speedwell Coffee is a specialty coffee roaster based in Plymouth, MA, committed to quality, consistency, and the craft of coffee. We work closely with our wholesale partners to elevate their coffee programs and share our passion for great coffee with home brewers as well. As we grow, we’re looking to expand our team with a dedicated Specialty Coffee Trainer to support our wholesale customers and engage with our broader coffee community.
About the Role
We are looking for a knowledgeable and passionate Coffee Trainer to join our team. In this role, you’ll be the bridge between our roasting team and our customers—bringing our coffees to life through hands-on training, clear brew guidance, and a commitment to quality.
Key Responsibilities
Wholesale Customer Training & Support

Deliver engaging, practical training sessions for our wholesale partners (cafés, restaurants, etc.) on espresso preparation, milk texturing, and brewing fundamentals.

Onboard new wholesale customers with initial setup, barista training, and recipe guidance.

Conduct on-site visits to ensure quality control and consistency in coffee preparation.

Provide continuing education opportunities and advanced training for experienced wholesale partners.

Brew Recipe Development

Collaborate with the roasting team to dial in and document espresso and filter brew recipes for all current Speedwell coffees.

Maintain a regularly updated database of brew recipes for both wholesale and home use.

Troubleshoot brewing challenges and adjust recipes based on feedback from customers or seasonal changes.

Home Customer Engagement

Create easy-to-follow brew guides and tips for home brewers using various methods (e.g., V60, AeroPress, French Press, espresso).

Answer brewing questions from retail customers via email, social media, or occasional in-person events.

Support content development for our blog, newsletter, or social media related to brewing best practices.
Qualifications

2+ years of experience in specialty coffee (barista, trainer, or quality control roles preferred).

Strong understanding of coffee extraction theory and practical brewing methods.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills—comfortable training individuals, small groups, and larger workshops.

Organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple customer relationships.

Comfortable with regional travel to customer locations

Familiarity with common brewing equipment (espresso machines, grinders, pour-over devices)
