Our Story
To speed-well so to speak. We are all about enjoying a well crafted product that has a lot of care behind it. Fast forward almost twenty years, and the company has thrived and evolved, but our core values are still about delivering a really excellent cup of coffee. We take a lot of pride in our sourcing, being quality focused, taking care of our employees and customers, and trying to over deliver with our level of service across our markets.
We have been roasting coffee and building relationships since 2008. We focus on great coffee, professional training, and having equipment solutions and technical service to support your business. Whether you have years of industry experience, or are just planning your first pop-up, we can help you serve great coffee.
Meet Our Founder
Derek Anderson started Speedwell Coffee in 2008, with a passion for coffee and entrepreneurship. He began his journey in roasting in 2001, at a wholesale roastery in New Hampshire, when specialty coffee roasting opportunities were few and far between. This was an invaluable experience that provided a framework for Speedwell’s business model. After several years in New Hampshire, Derek opened a small roastery and cafe with his brother in Plymouth, MA, eventually opening a second location, growing his skills and expertise in cafe operations and service.
With a growing family, Derek decided in 2008 to shift his focus back to coffee roasting and wholesale operations, and Speedwell was born.
Today, Derek runs the day-to-day operations of Speedwell Coffee. He is primarily focused on Speedwell’s coffee sourcing and business development, but enjoys all facets and challenges of the specialty coffee industry.
Derek lives in Plymouth with his wife Ingrid, loves spending time with his three sons when not at Speedwell, and plays a little golf when time allows.
