A beautiful washed Sidamo that delivers on sweetness and balance. A lighter body, with complex stone fruit sweetness, and a pleasing finish reminiscent of a delicate black tea. Dale washing station is located in Wensho Woreda of the greater Sidamo region. The harvest period is between December and January with the flowering season starting in January. Dale washing station serves over 750 individual producers in this region, with 1-2 hectares on average per producer. Parchment coffee is dried on African raised beds for up to 15 days. Throughout the drying period, parchment coffee is raked daily and covered with cloth during the hot afternoon.

Speedwell sources and roasts excellent coffees; I am focused on the low-to-medium strength roasts as the full roasts are a bit to string for my tastes- regardless of who sells them, etc. The Narino has the exotic mild berry taste that the bean and region are known for, but what is not easy to find in my experience. It's delicate and has a light blueberry fragrance, is very aromatic and not what a traditional coffee drinker would expect. A special event or treat coffee. The Ethiopian Dale is more full-bodied, robust and nutty; from the birthplace of coffee (Africa) and for us much more balanced, smooth and authentic a flavor versus the more acidic and perhaps sweeter/sharper South American, Central American and Indonesian products grown at very high altitudes, etc.
Freshly roasted beans when they arrive at the house. I like a light roast and this is perfect. Can’t wait to wake up and make a cup!
