We are excited to offer this washed Ethiopian from the Limu region. This coffee has abundant stone fruit notes, that are more intense as the cup cools, and layered with vanilla and jasmine. Sweet, juicy, and vibrant.
Producers live close to the Limu Gera washing station, making transport relatively easy. It takes them no more than 20 minutes to reach it. As one approaches the station, paved roads give way to dirt roads. Most farms have access to these dirt paths, so during the harvest season, producers use motorcycles, horses, or donkeys to carry bags of coffee cherries to the nearest collection centers. From there, trucks transport the cherries to the central washing station. Farmers in the region intercrop coffee with native shade trees such as banana trees, which help fertilize the soil.
At the central washing station, the coffee is fermented for 36 to 48 hours in cement tanks and then dried for five to seven days under plastic parabolic covers, depending on the weather.
